German automaker Mercedes-Benz has revealed the GLA Concept crossover ahead of its world debut scheduled at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show later this week.
Based on the new MFA platform, that also underpins the A-Class, B-Class and the CLA, the compact crossover GLA will be unveiled in Shanghai as a concept model, with the production-ready version to be showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
Basically a slightly taller A-Class, the GLA will be slotted below the GLK and should be offered with a price tag similar to that of the B-Class. The compact crossover will come with front-wheel-drive and both gasoline and diesel engine options.
Rumored to offer up to 211 HP, the Mercedes-Benz GLA is expected to gain an AMG version as well, powered by a 354 HP turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder mill. Stay tuned for more information on the GLA as the concept car debut in Shanghai on April 20.
