Mercedes G63 AMG Goes Skiing with the Pros in Latest Ad

Now that the skiing season has arrived, AMG has decided to treat us with a nice kick off, something called “the Snow Farm". At first, we weren’t quite sure what this means, but hey, when it comes to the Affalterbach stuff, things usually end up leaving a smile on your face. In this case, that smile is brought by a G63 AMG.
We have to start by mentioning Mercedes-Benz have been fair here - the electronic nannies on the Gelandewagen won’t let you drift the car, so there’s no proper sideways action in this clip (notice that the car in the drifting scene shot from above is not a G-Class).

Instead, the G63 puts its differentials at the skiers’ disposal, proving to be perfect for winter sports. During our G63 AMG review, we enjoyed flogging the machine in the desert, so this new clip quenches our thirst for the opposite-yet-still-slippery scenario.

As for the other two cars featured in the clip, the first is an E63 AMG S Model. This is some sort of a mobile billboard for AMG’s recent move into AWD land, so the choice was as accurate as possible. For the record, it can beat a Porsche Panamera Turbo S to 60 mph.

What’s the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe doing here?

The RWD machine may look a bit out of place in this clip, but Mercedes has all the reasons to keep this in the spotlights. We’ll remind you the two-door is set to stick with us until spring 2015, in spite of the fact that the new 2015 C63 AMG sedan has landed. AMG C-Class fans shouldn’t worry though, there’s a new one coming, but the Coupe itself is still under development, so you shouldn’t rush.

By the way, we did try to find the location indicated by the GPS coordinates given in the clip, but Google maps showed a point in the North Pacific Ocean. Unless we’re talking about AMG’s Cigarette Racing boat, this doesn’t sound right. Still, Mercedes-Benz explains the action takes place in Cardrona, New Zealand.

PS: wait 'till the 2015 C63 AMG and the Mercedes-AMG GT hear about this...
