Because the industry has boomed and milling machines are much cheaper, custom wheel projects are a dime o dozen nowadays. However, this one stands out from the pages of the internet like a sore thumb. The Canadians at SR Auto have recently kitted at G63 AMG with the latest PUR Wheels design, which is called the LX12.
What unusual about the project is that the PUR LX12 is usually seen on supercars, like the Lamborghini Aventador. Yet this design's sharp lines not only works with stealthy-looking cars, but also boxy ones.

The size chosen for the G63 is a massive 24-inch, made to pop out even further by the candy apple red finish and the polished aluminum lip. In contrast, the G-Wagon is very dark, serious and menacing.

At $140,000 (equivalent to about €110,000), the G63 AMG is still one of the most expensive Mercedes cars you can buy today in North America. Powered by the same hand-crafted biturbo 5.5-liter V8 as most of the other big AMG models, it requires 5.3 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. This 2.5 ton tank secretly want to act like a sportscar, which is ridiculous and awesome at the same time.

Adopted by many wealthy individuals as a status symbol, the G-Class' timeless design seems to be all things to all men. Tuners have added carbon fiber components, lowered it, lifted it and widened it, without ever altering its character. But should this simple PUR wheels sway be considered among the most interesting G63 AMG projects of the year? We certainly think so.
