To be honest, we were kind of wishing for a reason to write about Mercedes’ six-wheeled monster G63 AMG and the company has now given us just that. Mercedes has released the making-of for the promotional video that sees the G63 AMG 6x6 conquering the desert.
The footage was captured in Namibia, where the AMG-branded Frankenstein (we mean that in a very good way) was treated with some of the harshest conditions on Earth. The problem was that the crew who put everything together faced the same conditions, as you’ll be able to see in the video below.
The clip brings us all sorts of delicious footage, from showing us the production team’s RC filming helicopter, to a a few more delicate frames that see the film makers use more Mitsubishi Pajero support cars than Mercedes G-Class vehicles to fight the desert.
PS: in case you're considering performing some dune taiming yourself, we'll remind you we previosuly found a few Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 units for sale. Nevertheless, the standard car is pretty good at tackling the desert too, as we found out during our Mercedes G63 AMG test drive.
