Mercedes recently previewed the headlights of the upcoming E-Class facelift, showing us a technologically advanced piece of light cluster. However, the revamped E-Class will bring us so much more than that and we’re here to talk about the AMG version.
It seems that the refreshed E63 AMG will mark the debut of all-wheel drive for non-SUV AMG vehicles, with customers set to be able to order an optional 4Matic system for the hot version of the E-Class.

The E63 AMG 4Matic (if they decide to call it this way) will be powered by the same engine as the current RWD model, the M157 twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8, which delivers 518 hp and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque, or 550 hp and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque if you go for the optional AMG Performance Package.

The Mercedes E63 AMG 4Matic will make its debut in January, at the Detroit Motor Show and we’re very curious to see how Mercedes will choose to set up the system in terms of handling. The carmaker has the technical capabilities to do just about everything it wants, but given its dedication for safety, we’ll have to see if the vehicle will be biased towards understeer, like Audi’s RS models, or it will favor oversteer.
