Mercedes E63 AMG, Australian Version Available

German manufacturer Mercedes Benz announced the introduction of the E63 AMG on the Australian market, less than a month after the vehicle's presentation at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show. As with any vehicles which go Down Under, this one two received a few nip-'n'-tucks here and there to meet local requirements. Consequently, the Aussie E63 will boast, as standard, rear boot spoiler, sun protection package and 19 inch alloys.

The defining element of the E63 AMG, the 6.3l V8 is a high-revving, naturally aspirated monster, outputting 518 hp and 630 Nm of torque. Yet, this doesn't mean it can't be the kangaroos' best friend, when it wants to. The E63 has a fuel consumption rate of 12.6l every 100 km; a figure which for some may be high, but considering it is some 12 percent less than for its predecessor...

The AMG will pin you to the chair for 4.5 seconds, the amount of time it takes the car to reach 100 km/h from a perfect standstill. After that, you'll perceive the maximum 250 km/h as a cruising speed...

For the interior, standard on the E63 AMG will be Nappa leather upholstery in three colors, an AMG main menu instrument cluster, door entry sills with AMG lettering and a sports pedal cluster in stainless steel.

The driver's comfort is ensured by electrically adjustable AMG sports seats with improved lateral support and the AMG sports steering wheel, with paddle shifters and four-spoke design.

As for the prices, well, there's a bit of a snag...Here's what Mercedes has to say:

"Whilst we are unable to provide you with drive away pricing due to the wide variation in on-road costs between states and territories, and the different ranges of dealer delivery imposed by dealers, we encourage you to contact one of our authorized Mercedes-Benz passenger car dealers in order to obtain relevant and accurate drive away information for your specific audience."

Still, the manufacturer promises a AU$4,056 reduction over the previous model, "which when combined with the additional equipment and features totaling $28,100 delivers a net customer advantage of AU$32,156."
