With his Formula One return failed, German racer Ralf Schumacher was today confirmed by Mercedes Benz for the upcoming season of DTM. He will therefore compete for a 3rd straight season in the German series, after initially making his debut with Mercedes' second team back in 2008.

Therefore, I look forward to a third year in this fantastic championship,” said the German driver, who was previously linked with a move back in Formula One back in February.

At Mercedes-Benz and my team, I have the opportunity to practice motor racing at the best professional level. In 2010, the fans will experience a so far unique combination - my brother Michael in Formula 1 and me in the DTM, and both we will race for Mercedes-Benz – this will be an exciting motor sport season,” added Schumacher “junior”.

We all look very much forward to Ralf being a member of our DTM driver line-up again in 2010 and that he will enter his third season together with us. Soon, Ralf became one of the favourites of the spectators of the series and I am sure that in 2010, after the necessary learning time - everybody needs in the DTM, he will further improve in sporting terms,” added Mercedes' motorsport director Norbert Haug.

Last year, when moving to a 2009-spec AMG Mercedes C-Klasse, Schumacher scored 9 points throughout the entire season, making the scoreboard in the Norisring, Nurburgring and Dijon races.
