Offering the most amount of room for that particular model class is a very clear focus for premium automakers nowadays. This is why cars made by Mercedes or BMW have grown so much over the past few years, and anybody who has sat in the old A-Class will tell you that's not a bad thing.
From a boxy car with the engine hidden under the dashboard, the A-Class is now a family compact. It's no longer available with three doors, as this would compromise the practicality, even though rivals like the Audi A3 and BMW 1-Series offer this layout. The A-Class platform has even been extended to create the CLA four-door coupe, smaller than the CLS its inspired by but still bigger than a C-Class.
Taking all of this into consideration, it's unlikely that we'll see a CLA-Class two-door like the one in these renderings. There simply isn't a need to compromise on practically when the four-door couple already looks like a stunning car. But Mercedes is still missing out because it doesn't offer an entry-level twos-door model.
