Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake Sales to Start on January 15, Deliveries Begin on March 1st

While Mercedes-Benz had announced the Shooting Brake incarnation of the CLA would go on sale in the course of the following year, no exact date was offered. Now it seems we have a clearer take on the matter, with a report indicating the CLA Shooting Brake is set to hit the market on January 15.

The information comes from mercedes-benz-passion, which also states that the first customer deliveries are scheduled for March 1st. The upcoming Paris Motor Show seems a little early, which means that the CLA Shooting Brake should have its world premiere at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show in January. By the way, you should know that friends like to call it the X117.

The fresh styling means that the rear headroom and the luggage capacity are improved. These weren’t an issue with the CLA sedan, but there’s always... room for improvement. For instance, since the sedan already packs 16.6 cubic feet (470 liters) of luggage capacity, the Shooting Brake should climb a little over 17.7 cubic feet (500 liters), which will put it on par with the S-Class.

Of course, practicality isn’t the first reason for which people will go inside a Mercedes-Benz showroom with the CLA Shooting Brake on their mind. Some will even turn to the obvious car slang and call this the baby CLS Shooting Break.

Following the A-Class and B-Class compacts, as well as the CLA Sedan and GLA crossover, the CLA Shooting Brake will ride on Mercedes-Benz’ MFA platform and will inherit the engine line-up from the aforementioned models. Yes, this means we’ll also get an AMG version, which will mix the elegant styling with 355 hp (360 PS).

The extra material at the rear of the CLS will make the car a tad costlier compared to the CLA Sedan. We’ll remind you that in the US the CLA has a MSRP - the 208 hp CLA 250. Over in Europe, the CLA starts at EUR 29,214, which brings you the 122 PS petrol-powered CLA 180.
