If you've just ordered a brand new CLA 45 AMG, we may have bad news for you. A press statement from Affalterbach, the home of AMG, suggests all the other cars in the "45" range now have the same output as the A45 AMG facelift.

Starting with what's under the bonnet, the 2-liter turbocharged mills now have 21 PS more at their disposal, bringing the total to 381 PS. Mercedes' obsession with power can also be seen in the 25 Nm torque increase to 475 Nm.

These changes apply immediately to the CLA 45 AMG sedan, Shooting Brake and GLA 45 AMG. They have a dramatic effect on performance. In the case of the CLA, the 0 to 100 km/h sprint time has dropped 0.4 seconds to 4.2 seconds (Shooting Brake: 4.3 seconds, GLA: 4.4 seconds). From second to last gear (7th), all models have shorter ratios for superior acceleration and tweaks were also made to the response times of the 4Matic all-wheel drive.

Of course, there are other changes as well. Let's start with the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package, which costs €2,618 and sharpens these turbocharged cars to perfection. The biggest benefit comes from mechanical front axle locking differential. This increases the amount of lateral acceleration that these cars can pull (more Gs).

Also available on the hot CLA and GLA is the AMG Ride Control sports suspension, which is part of the Dynamic package but can be ordered separately. Essentially, you're getting adaptive damping so you can soften the blows to your liver when you're not in the mood to drive fast.

Mercedes will also allow its customers to tailor the AMG experience to their liking. The AMG Dynamic Select system offers the choice between four operating modes, namely "Comfort“, "Sport", "Sport+" and "Individual" or "Race" (only in combination with AMG Ride Control sports suspension).
