Mercedes Celebrates the 1,000th C63 AMG Sold in Australia

German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz is celebrating today its 1,000th C63 AMG sold since the Australian launch at the iconic Bathurst race circuit in 2008. With 1,006 sedans and 32 Estates now sold the C63 AMG sedan and wagon have helped move Mercedes-Benz Australia Pacific into fourth place worldwide in global AMG sales.

“We had a fantastic year in 2008 with the launch of the CLK63 AMG Black Series, the C 63 AMG sedan and estate range and the fire-breathing SL 65 Black Series,”
Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Horst von Sanden said in a release.

“In 2009 despite stock shortages we grew our AMG volume by 8 percent. We were fortunate to be able to secure just 63 of a limited edition specially and exclusively built for Australia “Edition 63” C 63 sedans and estates. So far in 2010 we have posted a 22 percent increase in sales, with the all-new E 63 AMG already having sold more than 100 units and the C 63 AMG is on track for more 600 units,” said von Sanden.

“We have convincingly established the C63 as the ultimate prestige sports sedan in Australia by outselling our nearest rival by 66 percent in 2009 and 131 percent in 2010.In August the first of the spine-chilling SLS AMG “gullwing” supercars will be delivered to anxious Australian customers. We already have over forty firm orders for the SLS AMG and our allocation from the factory is close to being fully taken.
I sometimes think that AMG stands for ‘Australian Market Growth’,” concluded von Sanden.

In late 2009 Mercedes-Benz also launched the Performance Package Plus, which will bring the C63 AMG production models close to the Mercedes C-Klasse DTM race cars. The package is expected to hit Australian shores this summer.

Moreover, the local division of the German manufacturer announced today the SLS AMG sports car will retail for AU$464,000 locally.
