Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe Coming

Mercedes-Benz has decided to leave the cannibalization fears aside and is planing to offer an AMG version for the upcoming coupe version of the C-Klasse, as autocar reports.

AMG insiders have told the aforementioned source that the company wants to offer a 100 percent direct competitor for the BMW M3 and the recently-introduced Audi RS5.

The new Power War soldier will be known as the C63 AMG Coupe and will hit the market late next year.

The AMG future version of the C-Klasse (Coupe included) will not follow Mercedes’ downsizing trend. We are talking about the German company’s decision to replace the 6.2 liter naturally aspirated V8 unit with a 5.5 liter bi-turbo V8 engine that offers improved efficiency.

This means that the coupe will use the 6.2 liter V8 found on the C63 AMG saloon and estate today. The insiders added that the power level of the engine will be higher than what we can see today. Let’s be a bit more specific: the current C63 AMG offers 457 hp or 480 hp, with the Performance Package, while the BMW M3 comes with a 420 hp and the Audi RS5 brings 450 hp to the game.

For all the versions of the C63 AMG, the engine will be matted to a seven-speed MCT (multi-clutch transmission) gearbox. The C63 AMG Coupe is also expected to receive a performance package, a move that will make it the most powerful beast on the battlefield.

Our say: The Power War is not over. It seems that it has only just begun.
