The Mercedes-Benz fanbase is one big community, and it should be, since similar 'factions' from Audi and BMW also have a lot of supporters. It goes the same with tuning, where some firms specialize in taking care of just one manufacturer's models.
The most well-known example is Brabus. While we all know what they can do in terms of performance upgrades, there are tuners focusing more on the design department.

Such a tuning house wears the Lorinser name, and you'll no doubt remember their work by the signature not-that-pretty front bumper most of their cars get as part of an exterior makeover. When it comes to improving Mercedes-Benz, these guys don't need to be asking twice, whether the GL-Class is involved or the new C-Class.

Speaking of which, the C400 4MATIC is Lorinser's latest piece of work, and guess what...that front bumper is still there. Sure, Lorinser describes the car as being a 'fun transferring masterpiece', but we're more into palpable or at least countable stuff.

So, the new body kit extends in the back with a sporty rear bumper but it also spawns a new blacked-out front grille. Add also a new final exhaust system with four pipes that look a bit like unfinished craft if you ask us, but that's only a subjective point of view.

Performance figures also went up, as Lorinser claims their C400 packs '580 Nm (428 lb-ft) and additional 56 HP compared to the series model' to 'ensure considerable drive'.

Well, that is to be tested by future buyers, so we'll take it for granted for now, although the 3.0-liter V6 was already good for 333 HP and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft). Still, 389 HP does sound a bit tempting, especially since it beats those 381 HP BMW brought out with the M50d versions.
