No less than three Mercedes-Benz models received a top prize in the Golden Classic Steering Wheel Awards, organized by German motoring magazine “Auto Bild Klassik”.
The legendary Mercedes-Benz 600 (W100), also known as the “Grosser Mercedes” (“Grand Mercedes” in German) received the Golden Classic Steering Wheel in the saloons category.
The SL (W113) Roadster, affectionately called the “Pagoda”, took the same trophy in the “Cabrios and Roadsters” class, while the “Classic of the Future” award went to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W222.
“With the Type 600 and type 230 SL, we have two true icons of Mercedes-Benz on the top step of the podium,” said Michael Bock, head of Mercedes-Benz Classic. “This recognition from readers delights us all the more because it is exactly 50 years since both these model series were launched.”
At least 26,882 readers and users of the Auto Bild Klassik website voted in the Golden Classic Steering Wheel competition, with this year being the fourth edition of the awards.
