Most concept cars out there have a rather short lifespan, or at least the part where they sit in the spotlight, for obvious reasons.
Technically, after being unveiled at an auto show they are talked about for a maximum of two or three months, after which they are pretty much only remembered by hardcore fans of the brand and the likes.
Mercedes-Benz doesn't seem to like this normal “procedure” with their cars so they sometime recycle their concept cars from an auto show to another, even if they are about a year apart.
The Mercedes-Benz Vision Ener-G-Force concept, for example, was first shown at the 2012 LA Auto Show, yet here it is in all its gargantuan glory at the Essen Motor Show one year later.
Created for the Los Angeles design challenge, the concept car is technically the civilian version of a highway patrol vehicle from 2025 with some stylistic genes taken straight (no pun intended) from the legendary Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
