Mercedes-Benz USA Sales Soar to Record First Quarter

With no less than 30,091 vehicles sold across the Mercedes-Benz, Sprinter and smart model lines this past March, it seems that Mercedes-Benz USA is once again on a record-breaking sales spree, as these numbers represent an increase of 11 percent compared with the 27,104 units sold in the same period last year.

“Thanks to a best-ever March, we've hit a new first quarter sales record in 2014,” said Steve Cannon, president and CEO of MBUSA. “Our CLA is making strong headway in the entry luxury arena with sales of more than 20,000 units after just six months on the market. With another knockout series of products waiting in the wings, we expect even higher growth this year and beyond.”

Speaking of Mercedes-Benz as a brand, the three-pointed star alone managed to sell 27,401 models in the US, representing an increase of 11.2 percent compared with March 2013, while year-to-date sales climbed to 72,614 cars, up 5 percent from the same period last year.

If we are to also add the year-to-date sales of 4,624 for Sprinter Vans and 2.237 for smart, Mercedes-Benz managed to deliver a record-breaking year-to-date grand total of 79,475 units to its customers.

The best-sold Mercedes-Benz models in March were the E-Class (6,335 units – up 58% compared with March 2013), the C-Class (5,660 units) and the M-Class (4,052 up 15.7 percent compared with March 2013).

As far as the more expensive models go, the S-Class climbed 89.1 percent compared to last year, selling no less that 2,299 cars in March, while the sales of the CLS increased 7.3 percent ahead of a mid-cycle facelift which should arrive by the end of this year.
