Mercedes-Benz Trumps BMW in February US Sales

The February numbers from the United States are in, and it seems that Mercedes-Benz has once again reported better sales than their number one competitors, BMW.
All Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and smart model lines sold in 24,971 units in February, an increase of 3.8 percent over the same period in 2013.

The three-pointed star brand alone achieved the highest ever sales this February, with no less than 22,609 units sold. This represents an increase of 2.6 percent compared with last year and 592 more car than BMW managed to sell in the same period.

“Our consistent sales momentum points to the strong foundation of our business priorities,” said Steve Cannon, president and CEO of MBUSA. “The depth and breadth of our product is unmatched, our dealers are more engaged than ever, and our absolute dedication to the customer experience has given us the No. 1 spot in luxury market loyalty for eight years running.”

Despite being only months away from being replaced by the new W205 generation this Fall, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class W204 was still the best sold model in the lineup, with no less than 5,621 units finding new owners.

At the luxurious end of the lineup, 1,789 units from the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W222 were sold, an impressive jump of 93.8 percent compared with February 2013, when the W221 was still found in dealerships across the US.

Both the redesigned Sprinter and the smart model lineup saw increases in sales, with the smart being the champion in this area with 20.2 percent. That is especially odd since the third generation of the fortwo is also just months away from being unveiled.
