Mercedes Benz to Share Vision of Future Transportation at 2011 CV Show

Visitors to the 2011 CV Show, held at the NEC between April 12th and the 14th, will get the chance to see what Mercedes Benz believes the future will hold when it comes to commercial vehicles.

“Saving the planet need not cost the Earth – that’s the message Mercedes Benz will be taking to the CV Show 2011, as it demonstrates yet again its determination to produce cleaner and more economical commercial vehicles,” the company says.

The world’s first battery-powered van to be built on a production line at a mainstream facility, the Vito E-CELL will be presented at there in complete form and as a stripped down chassis, so the ground-breaking electric driveline can be viewed in close detail.

A more conventional member of the green CV family will also be exhibited, namely the Euro 5-engined 113CDI version of the recently launched Vito range in eco-friendly BlueEFFICIENCY trim, plus a natural gas-powered Sprinter 316 NGT with factory-fitted dropside bodywork. This vehicle emits “practically no particulate emissions and has an exceptionally low carbon footprint when run on liquid biomethane produced from organic waste.”

The Mercedes Benz Truck division will also make its presence felt, showing a 2443LS 6x2 tractor unit with small-wheeled mid-lift axle and low-roofed sleeper cab, from the new Axor range.
