Mercedes-Benz keeps teasing the C-Class Cabriolet ahead of its unveiling at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
This time, the German carmaker published an image on its official Facebook page. The picture shows its convertible lineup for the 86th Geneva Motor Show, set to open at the beginning of March. The only covered exhibit in the photo is the new C-Class Cabriolet. It seems that 2016 is the convertible year for the Stuttgart-based manufacturer, as the company will showcase four convertible cars at its Geneva stand, along with a drop-top version of the smart fortwo.
We already know the new C-Class Cabrio will get the AIRSCARF system, which will allow front occupants to drive with the top down even on cold days.
For those of you unfamiliar with what AIRSCARF is, we’ll provide a quick explanation: it is a system that keeps your neck and the back of your head warm by blowing hot air through the seat. The air vent for this arrangement is located between the headrest and the backrest of the seat.
Furthermore, as spyshots revealed, the new C-Class also features the AIRCAP system, which is a complex name for an advanced wind deflector. As its name explains, this device limits airflow in the passenger compartment through smart aerodynamic tweaks on top of the windshield.
The new C-Class Cabriolet is based on the same platform as the C-Class Coupe, meaning that apart from the addition of a canvas roof, the new Mercedes-Benz drop top will borrow the engine range from its Coupe sibling.
The new body style available in the C-Class range should come to market this summer, if not earlier. Pricing information, along with performance data, will come as the model approaches its market launch date. Until then, we expect the new C-Class Cabriolet to be revealed shortly before its debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
