Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Roadster Online Configurator Launched

If we had to be honest, we’d admit that most of our readers will never get the chance to sit behind the wheel of the brand new SLS AMG Roadster, yet something about going online and spending countless hours looking at its proportions and dreaming of owning one will sound like fun for most.

Every time a carmaker launches a really well made online configurator for one of their supercars or a very stylish coupe, we feel compelled to bring it to your attention. So, here we go: Mercedes-Benz has introduced the new drop-top version of its front mid-mounted supercar to the internet.

It was a really hard choice, but we opted for a sexy red dress (AMG Le Mans Red), the biggest AMG chrome jewelry when it came to the wheels and a black color for the soft-top fabric. However, the online configurator will provide you with the chance to choose between nine different exterior colors, (most of them various shades of silver), seven interior leather choices, three convertible top colors and four different sets of wheels.

The Roadster ditches the gullwing doors that made the coupe so awesome, but gets a whole lot of headroom and a nice soundtrack when the you bury your right foot all the way to the carpet. That reminds us: the online configurator has a very interesting pedal featured. Press it an you you get to hear that AMG V8 engine rev to the red line.

Along with the convertible roof, Mercedes has also packed in a new electronically-controlled Adaptive AMG Sport Suspension, AMG Performance Media system to track and display vehicle telemetrics, and an AMG Drive Unit to control it all.
