Sadly in its final year of production now, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series is among the most bonkers road-going cars that the nutters from Affalterbach have ever unleashed into the open.
Powered by a completely re-worked version of the soon-to-be-a-legend M159 engine, the most powerful naturally-aspirated production car on the planet sports no less than 631 hp and 635 Nm (468 lb ft) of torque at the crank, which is more “go” that its “show” exterior could ever need.
Among other superlatives, the SLS AMG Black Series is also the fastest ever production road-going Mercedes-Benz to lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife, achieving the mighty feat in just 7:25 minutes.
Although it doesn't have a direct competitor, a pretty reasonable rival in terms of both performance and driving feel would probably be the GT3 version of the latest iteration of the Porsche 911, the 991.
We aren't the only ones with this opinion, as the peeps from Crank and Piston had the same though and pitted the two Stuttgart neighbors against each other in a rather epic comparison, which you must read.
