The second Mercedes-Benz to be featured in MotorTrend's newest edition of the Best Driver's Car Week is the most hardcore AMG for the road ever built: the limited edition Black Series version of the SLS AMG.
Driven, as usual, by professional racing driver Randy Pabst, the SLS AMG Black Series stormed the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca circuit in a blistering 1:35.03 minutes, making it the fastest car from all the ones that have been tested so far in the aforementioned competition. The closest model from the 12 chosen for the contest is so far the SRT Viper, who clocked its best lap at 1:36.43.

As with the E63 S-AMG Wagon they featured yesterday, the SLS AMG Black Series' high point is definitely the engine.

Handcrafted by a single engineer, like all AMG engines, the M159 6.2-liter normally aspirated V8 in the “regular” SLS has been worked on even more by AMG engineers, with the result being a higher rev limit, more power and just a tad bit less torque, which is still monumental for a N/A car that revs to 8000 rpm.

We should remind you that the V8 in the Black Series SLS provides 631 hp and 635 Nm (468 lb ft) of torque, enough to give the mad coupe a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration in just 3.6 seconds, while its top speed sits at 315 km/h (196 mph).
