Mercedes Benz SLR Roadster to Be Auctioned for Charity

The SLR is the pinnacle of German engineering and it also looks like the meanest thing on the street. There aren't many people out there that wouldn't want to own one of these babies and that's exactly what Mercedes and Sacks are counting on.

Both companies are joining forces in auctioning a special edition SLR in the Saks Holiday Catalog. The proceeds from this auction will go to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. A worthy cause indeed.

The sticker price of the SLR is $529,500 and for that money you get a lot of unique features on this one-off model. The first thing that strikes you is the golden brown metallic paint job with deep copper undertones. To compliment this lovely color, the leather interior was colored in Tobacco Brown and to finish off the design, gold brake calipers were added. 19-inch wheels complete the customization on this car.

The St. Jude's Children's Hospital is the only place where families without medical insurance don't pay for pediatric cancer treatment, or where children whose insurance doesn't cover cancer come to be treated. St. Jude's also shares the results of its research with other facilities in the hopes of curing terrible diseases like cancer. This facility prides itself with never refusing treatment because of inability to pay.

In order to bid at this auction you must register online at MBUSA.com starting with November 1st. In order to add to the flavor, we're going to tell you that this model SLR is the only one built for the United States. It has a 617 hp supercharged V8 engine that can propel the car all the way to 206 mph. So grab your check book and do the right thing.
