The SLK is one sexy looking Mercedes in a while, but it’s no driver’s car. The AMG sound good on paper - more economical and powerful than the old generation - but we’re not convinced you’d have something to do with that power, and cylinder deactivation isn’t really the answer when for the fuel-saving question.
So the best SLK of the current bunch would have to be the 350, powered by a 306 hp 3.5-liter V6. This is quite impressive when you consider that unlike the six-cylider Audis and BMWs, this does not have forced induction.
For that extra kick and a little bit of chic, German tuning firm Vath has come up with its own version of the SLK 350. This boasts a power increase to 330 hp and 390Nm (288 lb-ft) of torque.
Other tech goodies include a new new sports exhaust system and an adjustable suspension that will allow you to lower the car by between 20 and 65 mm.
As part of a complete package that costs €25,192 in Germany, you also get 20-inch forged alloy wheels fitted with 235/30ZR20 tires on the front and 265/25ZR20 tires on the rear axle.
