Mercedes-Benz is making sure the upcoming SL facelift will get all it needs for a mid-life refreshment. We’re saying this because the roadster was spotted again wearing camouflage as it was leaving a Mercedes facility in Germany.
Heavy camouflage on both the front and rear end suggests that Mercedes-Benz is looking to seriously update its current SL generation. Moreover, our carparazzi managed to take shots of the sleek Merc’s interior as well, so it’s safe to assume that this facelift will be an all-inclusive type of work.

Of course, we saw the Mercedes SL (R231) wearing S-Class Coupe headlights last year in December but that was just the beginning of a much more comprehensive visual makeover. We have no doubt that the S-Class will go on with inspiring the design cues on his brothers and the SL looks happy to adopt such changes.

We expect to see redesigned bumpers both up front and at the back, as well as the aforementioned new headlights plus a mildly updated hood and freshened-up exhaust tips.

The cabin will also go through some plastic surgery as Mercedes-Benz will be looking to install a new bigger touchscreen display and a new steering wheel, as well as mix things up a bit and reposition some buttons on the dashboard.

There’s not much to gossip about in the engine and gearbox department, as we expect the facelifted SL to inherit the current generation’s line-up, especially after the 2015 SL received the SL400 version, based on a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 plant producing 333 HP. There could even be an SL 450 AMG, packing a 367-hp sting from the same engine.

Most likely, the facelifted SL will hit the market as a 2017 model year, but we could wait until 2016 for that to happen. We’ll get back on this as soon as we find out more.
