Mercedes-Benz Sells Over Million B-Class Models

A rather peculiar apparition in the beginning, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class was first launched in 2005 and is now at its second generation, proving that its MPV-like design and features went rather well with Mercedes-Benz customers.

So well, as a matter of fact, that Mercedes-Benz sold no less than one million units of the niche model until now, also becoming the market leader in the MPV segment in Germany.

Not only that, but it also has a 30 percent conquest rate, meaning that about one in three B-Class customers were previously driving something without the three-pointed star on the hood.

“The B-Class is the perfect combination of sporty design, impressive driving dynamics and incomparable driving comfort,” says Ola Källenius, Member of the Divisional Board Mercedes-Benz Cars responsible for Marketing & Sales. “That’s what makes it so popular with our customers. What has been particularly noticeable with the current model is that we are reaching the most diverse customer groups, from families with children to active seniors.”

From 2014, two versions of the Mercedes-B-Class running on alternative drive technologies will hit the market, with both the B 200 Natural Gas Drive and the B-Class Electric Drive to improve the model range in just a few months.
