Wow, this seems to be the day the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG found its affinity for drag racing - after we’ve shown you a previous generation model do its worst against two competitors from the Mercedes-Benz family, it’s time for the newer generation to show what it can do.
If the big limousine changed generations compared to what was shown in the other video, its competitor didn’t: it’s the same W204 C63 AMG with its monstrous 6.2-liter V8 naturally aspirated engine. In the opposite corner, the W222 S63 AMG is hiding a smaller V8 under its hood - a 5.5-liter unit - but it makes up for its lower displacement with not one but two turbochargers.

Gather ‘round, kids, it’s number time. We’ll start with the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG and its force-fed engine. In its natural state - and these two cars seem to be as natural as the day they were born - the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 is good for 585 hp and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm). The S-Class is also helped by its 4MATIC four-wheel-drive system and newer seven-speed transmission.

The C63 AMG’s main advantage over the larger car is its lower weight, which is partially denied by the larger engine that also churns out less power. Yup, the atmospheric 6.2-liter V8 only (and we’re using this word simply in comparison with what was mentioned above) delivers 457 hp at a stratospheric 6,800 rpm, and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) at a pretty high 5,000 rpm. If the car has the AMG Performance Package, then the numbers are slightly better: 487 hp and the same amount of torque.

Taking all this into consideration, we should be watching a pretty close contest here. However, despite employing a drone and trying their best, the guys setting up the race do come across as being a bit amateurish. So the result should be taken with a pinch of salt.
