Once again, Mercedes-Benz, BMW's biggest competitor, is following the Bavarian brand into unknown territory, to say so. When the X6 was launched, the Stuttgart officials probably laughed at it, considering it a failure even before hitting the market. Now, they're confirming a rival for the first Sports Activity Coupe.
According to Car and Driver, the so-called MLC will be riding on the M-Class platform and have a slightly different, coupe-like shape, just as the X6 is based on the X5. They are also claiming that high-level executives confirmed the new car will be going on sale in 2015 for a price tag around USD60,000.
That number will place it right next to the X6 that starts at USD60,800 and could bring some surprises to the market. Prices might go down a bit and competition will heat up in the SAC segment, a place where BMW's car was all alone up until now.
