With its launch in all three key markets concluded in just under three months, making it the fastest in the company's history, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W222 is on track to become another best-seller for the Stuttgart manufacturer.
Daimler AG recently reported that no less than 30,000 orders have been placed for the new “Sonder Klasse” (German for “Special Class”) since the ordering books have been opened earlier this summer.
“This almost simultaneous launch in all key markets was only possible because production of the luxury saloon started up in record time at Mercedes-Benz's main plant in Sindelfingen. All S-Class vehicles for global distribution are rolling off the production line in Sindelfingen in a two-shift operation. So far, more than 30,000 customers have ordered the luxury sedan.” said Ola Kallenius, Member of the Divisional Board Mercedes-Benz Cars responsible for Marketing and Sales.
With the previous W221 generation of the car having been sold in over 65,000 units in 2012, it's last full year of production, even greater things are expected from its W222 replacement, making it by far the best sold luxury sedan in the world.
