If the latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class would have a trophy wall it would probably need to be rebuilt every month or so, as the luxury sedan has been receiving an award more times than we can count in 2014 alone.
For example, this weekend it managed to scoop no less than four awards at the 2014 Vehicle Dynamics International Awards.
The latest Sonder Klasse (Special Class in German) managed to win “Car of the Year”, the Magic Body Control System won “Innovation of the Year”, Dr. Hermann Storp – who was in charge of development on the model - won “Dynamicist of the Year”, while the entire Mercedes-Benz Research and Development department went home with the “Dynamics Team of the Year” award.
“We are very proud of this recognition - I’m not sure any single brand has won so many awards in this category and it’s down to the hard work and dedication of my team for making it possible. When we were developing it, the S-Class aimed to set new benchmarks and be the best car we could possibly make – and dynamics play a big part in this. I’d like to thank the judges for their kind comments – I join my team in being justifiably proud to be presented with these Awards.” said Dr. Hermann Storp, head of S-Class development program.
Between four and six finalists were shortlisted in each category of the Vehicle Dynamics magazine awards, after which they were voted by an international and independent judging panel of journalists, with no less than 27 judges from 19 different countries choosing the winners.
