Unveiled at the 2014 edition of the Geneva Motor Show and announced to hit dealerships starting this July, the gorgeous Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe (C217) has finally entered production.
To be manufactured in a much lower quantity than its sedan brother, the luxurious grand tourer's production will obviously take place in Sindelfingen, where Daimler's oldest and largest factory has been based since 1915.

There it will be built alongside cars like the C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, CLS in “normal” and Shooting Brake guises, the soon-to-be-defunct SLS AMG and the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT.

Despite being based on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W222 as far as its architecture goes, the new S-Class Coupe depicts a highly individual exterior design, with only parts of its interior being shared with the sedan model.

As with its predecessor, the CL coupe, the new Mercedes-Benz uber-coupe will only get V8 and V12 engines, while the first two variants of the car to start production will be the S 500 Coupe and S 63 AMG Coupe in 4Matic all-wheel drive guise.

The rear-wheel drive models, alongside the S 600 Coupe and S 65 AMG Coupe, will be launched later this year and in early 2015, bringing even more performance and status among the available variants.

The S 500 Coupe 4Matic is powered by a twin-turbocharged, 4.7-liter V8 with direct injection, which delivers 455 hp and 700 Nm (516 lb ft) of torque. The S 63 AMG Coupe 4Matic, on the other hand, comes with a hand-crafted, twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 that outputs 585 hp and a massive 900 Nm (664 lb ft) of torque, which gives it a naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time of just 3.9 seconds.
