Now that most of the official specification numbers for the new Mercedes-Benz S 600 have been leaked just a couple of days ago, it should come only natural to pit it against its major competitors and see how well it stacks up. In other words, let the fanboy specs comparison begin!
The only other V12 luxury sedan which sits in the same league as the S 600 is, of course, the BMW 760Li (F02) which, by coincidence, is also sporting a twin-turbocharged V12 up front in order to make our fanboy comparo go even smoother.

So, both of them have twin-turbocharged V12 engines with more than 500 horsepower and both have six liters of displacement, but that is where the actual similarities between them end.

The new S 600 V222 will have 530 hp and 830 Nm (612 lb ft) of torque, while the 760Li has 544 hp and 750 Nm (553 lb ft) of torque. For statisticians, the Mercedes-Benz is down 2.5 percent in horsepower but has 10 percent more torque than the BMW, as it usually happens between the two in other engines as well.

The 544 hp of the BMW are available in full from 5250 rpm to 6000 rpm, while the 530 hp of the Mercedes-Benz are available from 4900 rpm to 5300 rpm.

In terms of smoothness, the 830 Nm (612 lb ft) of torque from the S 600 V222 are available from 1900 rpm all the way to 4000 rpm, while the 750 Nm (553 lb ft) of torque from the 760Li can be depended upon from 1500 rpm until 5000 rpm.

The above figure translate into an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.6 seconds no matter if you're driving the S-Class or the 7-Series, overall making for some pretty neck and neck performance comparisons.

Considering this is a tug of war between the two, we have to find a clear winner in at least one department though. Judging by the fuel consumption, we have to choose the S 600 V222 as a clear winner, since its combined fuel economy is 11.3 liters per 100 km (21 mpg) and emits 264 g of CO2 per 100 km, while the 760Li has a combined fuel economy of 12.9 liters per 100 km (18.2 mpg) and emits 303 g of CO2 per 100 km.

The S-Class is also Euro VI, while the 7-Series is currently Euro V.

Another area where the Mercedes-Benz S 600 V222 is also a clear winner is the overall weight, since it starts at 2185 kg (4817 pounds), while the 760Li's engine has to carry no less than 2270 kg (5004 pounds).

Without counting the standard inclusion of 19 inch wheels on the Mercedes-Benz over the standard 18 inch on the BMW, the three-pointed star clearly wins in two categories, but keep in mind that the above comparo is based on leaked figures for the S 600, so we should probably wait for the official data at the 2014 North American International Auto Show next week.
