When the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W222 was launched a few months ago it signaled to the world that the king has returned, as the all-new flagship sedan from the three-pointed star is heralded by many as simply the best car in the world.
The Germans from Auto, Motor und Sport recently took a Mercedes-Benz S 500 in 4Matic guise and pitted it against its closest rivals from Munchen and Ingolstadt, respectively.

Unfortunately, they couldn't find a BMW 750i xDrive available for a proper comparison, so they went with the rear-wheel drive version.

On the other hand, Audi didn't disappoint, throwing in a A8 4.0 TFSI quattro into the three-way teutonic battle.

We can't wait for a true comparo between the three kings when each are fitted with their 12-cylinder engines and we shouldn't wait for too long considering that the new S 600 V222 gets launched next week and its leaked specs show some pretty hard-to-beat numbers.

We won't spoil much from the conclusions for our German-speaking readers, but let's just say that the winner of the AMS comparison won by a rather comfortable margin, and we all know how OCD are the Germans when it comes to testing cars.
