Mercedes-Benz will say goodbye to the ongoing CLS, and has created a special edition to send it to history.
As some of you know, the Mercedes-Benz CLS is based on the W212 E-Class platform, which has received a new generation this year. The new CLS is foreseen to be launched by the end of 2017, or early 2018, so the final edition of this model will be available for a few months to fill in the gaps.
It is essential to note that the Final Edition is a package for the ongoing CLS, in all of its variants, and that it might be available only in Europe. The regular versions of the CLS will still be available at the same time with the Final Edition, but we expect customers that can afford this model to be able to pay the 8,211 euro premium over the regular variant to get the Final Edition.
Mercedes-Benz does not charge extra for some badges, but provides numerous optional elements as a standard for the Final Edition trim package. We are writing about LED headlamps, heat-insulating privacy glass, exclusive upholstery, and an AMG Line exterior package.
The latter boasts 19-inch wheels finished in black or 18-inch ones available in silver, sportier bumpers, a diamond-finish radiator grille with chrome trim, a twin exhaust, and a set of side skirts.
On the inside, the Final Edition brings black leather upholstery with light-coloured stitching, as well as "multicontour" front seats with heating and electric adjustment.
The steering wheel features “Dinamica” microfiber grips, silver shift paddles, and has a flat bottom, inspired from motorsport. The driver will also observe a set of brushed stainless steel sport pedals with rubber studs for extra grip.
With the Final Edition, Mercedes-Benz will discontinue the Shooting Brake body style of the CLS range. The model looked cool, but it did not manage to reach the company’s sale expectations, so it will not receive a successor.
