The legendary four-wheeled workhorse in the Mercedes-Benz off-road and truck lineup, the Unimog, has received a new generation and it expectedly looks not much different than the old one.
With its name derived from Universal Motor Gerät – which basically means a motorized jack of all trades – the Unimog is in the same segment that itself created right after World War II.
The model can be used in pretty much every area of work, from municipal equipment carriers to agricultural logistics implements, snowplowing and can even be used instead of train locomotives if fitted with the appropriate equipment.
Presented at the Agritechnica fair in Hanover, the new generation of the Unimog brings the first Euro VI compliant engines in the agricultural sector as well, with three four-cylinder and two six-cylinder mills producing from 156 hp to 299 hp.
Apart from that, the new Unimog also brings an optional world first in the shape of a so-called synergetic traction drive, which enables changing on the fly between the infinitely variable hydrostatic drive and the manual transmission.
Leaving all its technical novelties aside, which you can read in the press release bellow, we can't help but be amazed at how badass this off-road truck looks.
