Mercedes-Benz Officially Reveals 2015 V-Class

Dieter Zetsche calls it “the Mercedes of MPVs”, but judging by the looks of its fabulous interior, that may very well be a huge understatement.

Launched at Munchen, in BMW's backyard, the all-new 2015 Mercedes-Benz V-Class has been redesigned from the ground up and the only connection that remains with its Viano predecessor is the fact that Mercedes still considers it a large MPV.

“The new V-Class demonstrates that an elegant and dynamic appearance is also possible in size XXL”, says Volker Mornhinweg, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans and ex-boss of AMG. “The V-Class is a versatile, multitalented vehicle which offers value, efficiency and safety at the highest level. As a result we are addressing a completely new customer group – among them those who are in need of a generous amount of space but never wanted to drive an MPV because style, a sense of well-being and also ride comfort have so far been lacking in this segment.”

The new luxury MPV offers two equipment lines, an Exterior Sports package and an Interior Design package for each line, two wheelbase options, three body lengths from 4985 mm (192.7 in) to 5370 mm (211.4 in) and a huge range of optional extras, making it perfect for families or luxurious VIP or hotel shuttle.

As far as comfort features go, the new model gets a separately opening rear windshield in the V-Class Avantgarde, the tailgate is optionally opened, closed and stopped in any position electrically, while a new 360 degree camera and active parking assistance make city driving a breeze.

The interior gets optional four-way lumber support and active seat ventilation, improved Thermotronic automatic climate control with pre-entry on/off function at the touch of a button form the car's key, while the seating allows a host of configurations that can meet pretty much any expectation and offers seats for up to eight people.

Engine wise, the new Mercedes-Benz V-Class is only available at start with three four-cylinder diesel engines, as we were telling you months ago.

The V 200 CDI is the base version and offers 136 hp and 330 Nm (243 lb ft) of torque, the mid-level V 220 CDI offers 163 hp and 380 Nm (280 lb ft), while the top of the range is represented by the twin-turbocharged V 250 BlueTec, which delivers 190 hp and 440 Nm (325 lb ft) of torque.

With prices starting from EUR 42,900 in Germany, the new Mercedes-Benz V-Class can be ordered beginning with March 6, 2014, while the market launch will start in late May.
