With a twin-turbocharged V8 that growls and spits with each kick-down of the seven-speed automatic gearbox, the Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG is one of the most fun high-performance SUVs out there, especially when fitted with the optional Performance Package.
Unfortunately, the AMG M-Class tested by Truck Trend didn't have the performance package, which would have probably given it more praise from the editors.
Since they also tested a G 63 AMG - which they rated first - and a full-size GL 63 AMG - which they rated second - Truck Trend weren't as impressed with the ML 63 AMG compared with the other two.
Even though it is the lowest powered of the trio, it is also the lightest, which pretty much makes it the fastest accelerating SUV of the bunch.
The 525 hp (518 bhp) and 700 Nm (516 lb ft) of torque are enough to propel it from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.8 seconds officially, while Truck Trend managed a 0-60 mph time of 4.3 seconds. Their short review of the ML 63 AMG is a bit lower on this page.
