Currently, the MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform is probably the biggest cash cow in the Mercedes-Benz stable, but that is soon to change.
How, you ask? Well, the Renault-Nissan Alliance is probably a bit jealous on the success had by the A-Class, B-Class, CLA and even the recently launched GLA that they're considering a way to benefit a bit more from the recent friendship with Daimler AG.
Renault-Nissan is already using the MFA platform to underpin the future Infiniti Q30 crossover, but they're apparently thinking to over-milk it.
According to Automotive News, who had a word with Carlos Ghosn, the MFA platform might arrive under a number of non-premium vehicles as well.
“When we make a platform, we don't dedicate it to one brand. Platforms belong to companies, even if I tell you today we have no projects for one particular brand, within three months or sooner somebody can come with a project and I'll put it on the platform.” Ghosn told Automotive News Europe.
This information only makes us wonder if the Nissan Almera might make a comeback as a much cheaper A-Class in the next few years, how about you?
