Earlier today we showed you the two major visible differences that the SUV's interior will suffer when it comes to its interior, but now its time to check out a fresh compilation of spy photos from three different sources.

The exterior modifications largely remain in the guess work/speculation realm, but it does appear that the front end will sport the biggest stylistic modifications.

The radiator grille will be slightly more upright because of European pedestrian rules, while the headlights will be restyled to be more inline with the current Mercedes-Benz design language and will therefore “hug” the exterior sides of the grille.

As far as the side design goes, the character lines will also get under the knife, with the signature “dropping line” expected to be transplanted onto the M-Class as well.

The rear, despite having received a good deal of criticism is expected to remain largely the same, apart from the bumper, which will also be restyled. On the other hand, the fact that the taillights are completely non-camouflaged might also indicate that they are only there for show and new ones are on the way, but we will just have to wait and see.

Intelligent LED headlights are expected, along with at least three new engine choices, one of which will be a plug-in hybrid in the style of the frugal Mercedes-Benz S 500 Plug-in Hybrid. As expected, most of the technical novelties on the car will involve the increase of fuel economy on every engine version.
