Mercedes-Benz Kicks BMW's Behind in The US Sales Race

Even though Dieter Zetsche was rather restrained back in the summer about predicting who will win the US luxury sales race at the end of 2013, it seems that he was only playing it cool.

In other news, the three-pointed star has just kicked the blue propeller's behind in the American luxury car race for 2013, ending a two-year reign of the Bavarians in terms of cars sold in the land of the free.

Selling a total of 312,534 units, which is up 14 percent compared to the year before, Mercedes-Benz up-gamed BMW in the US, who only managed to sell 309,280 units in the same time span.

With no less than 14,113 models sold in the US in just under four months, the Mercedes-Benz CLA gave its fair share of help to the end-of-the-year numbers, but the real best sellers were the E-Class and, somewhat surprisingly, the C-Class W204.

Globally, Mercedes-Benz is still behind behind BMW and Audi but is quickly catching up, having an increase rate that is much higher that its competitors.
