Of course, some already have, but those are the people living far up north. And the further north you go, the more people get used to its hardships. Winter driving is very different from dry, warm weather driving, but not all people realize that. Well, they do, but for some it’s too late and now they have to call the roadside assistance vehicle so they can get home. Or worse.
Mercedes-Benz has come up with a guide for those who use its commercial vans, but the advice it gives is solid enough to be used by anyone. Just replace “van” with “car” and “cargo” with “wife and kids,” and you’re good to go.
The ten-point list includes some common sense advice, but sometimes being in a hurry or having a distracted mind can help you forget even about the most basic rules. Others seem so obvious when you read them, but they’re so easy to overlook. Things like “wipe your feet” are the kind of small reminders that can make the difference in a critical situation where a foot slipping off the brake pedal would mean certain death.
