Mercedes-Benz Introduces C63 AMG with Performance Package Plus

Both versions of the C63 AMG, saloon and estate, will benefit from the Performance Package Plus, which will bring the production models close to the Mercedes C-Klasse DTM race cars. German manufacturer Daimler had just announced this optional extra package, which comes with both styling and power enhancements.

The Performance Package Plus increases output by 22 kW/30 hp to 358 kW/487 hp, and also includes an AMG braking system featuring composite technology on the front axle, a carbon fiber spoiler lip (saloon) and an AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather/Alcantara.

Additionally, the 6.3-litre V8 engine adopted the forged pistons from the new SLS AMG model, alongside new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft, resulting a weight saving of three kilograms.

The power upgrade enables the Mercedes C63 AMG to sprint from naught to sixty in 4.4 seconds, and keep on going until it reaches an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Another feature included in the Performance Package Plus is the AMG carbon fiber spoiler lip on the boot lid (saloon). In the interior, the AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather with a grip area trimmed in Alcantara completes the visual impact.

The new AMG Performance Package Plus is already available for ordering. The sales price is 7080.50 euros or 6426 euros for the saloon and the estate respectively, with the market launch to take place in December 2009.

In addition, customers can also go for the black designo leather as an optional extra which covers the upper section of the dashboard, the upper door trim and the armrest on the centre console and is priced at 2856 euros.
