Following the official currency's depreciation, major car manufacturers present in India have started to adjust model prices because of higher import costs.
According to the India Times, Mercedes-Benz India may take an official decision on increasing the price of its models sometime this week, quoting Eberhard H. Kern, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India.

The official refused to divulge the actual numbers for the increase, but, looking at competitor BMW's increase of up to 5% percent sales price for its models from last month, we can expect something similar from the three-pointed star manufacturer.

Audi officials announced in July they will also increase their prices in India by up to 4 percent amid the higher import costs due the declining currency value.

The rupee, India's official currency, is now at an all-time low, many other imported luxury items apart from cars being sold at a slight loss because of it.
