There's no point in taking you through the entire change in nomenclature carried out by Mercedes-Benz, but we'll tell you this: the GLK will officially become the GLC on June 17, and now we have additional info on the car from German officials.
As you might expect, Mercedes-Benz representatives are still tight-lipped about what will lie under the new GLC's outer shell. However, they were quick to claim: "GLC retains its predecessor's outstanding off-road characteristics and combines them with an all-new design". Yeah, well, let us decide that once we review the car, alright?

In any case, Mercedes-Benz will fit the GLC with the multi-chamber air suspension AIR BODY CONTROL that made a debut on the S-Class. Also, the SUV will get DYNAMIC SELECT dampers and the 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system.

Mercedes is also promising "state-of-the-art assistance systems and improved energy efficiency" along with a 19 percent lower fuel consumption compared to the model it replaces.

Our team of carparazzi didn't miss the chance of spying the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLC on several occasions, recently sending us a video with the SUV's interior. It comes as no surprise that the GLC's cabin looks a lot like the one available on the W205 C-Class.

The same platform underpinning the C-Class will be holding the GLC together, and we expect engines to be shared in the same way. However, Mercedes might have some AMG-sourced goodies in store for the GLC later after launch - maybe the 4.0-liter V8 available on the AMG C63 - but nothing official is known at this stage.
