Around two months after it was officially unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Mercedes-Benz GLA is available for ordering from today, with the first models to hit the showrooms in March 2014 in Europe.
The fourth member of the Mercedes-Benz MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform and the fifth SUV in the three-pointed star portfolio, the GLA is ready to take a bite from the slice comprising the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and the Range Rover Evoque.

“With its fascinating design and high everyday practicality, the GLA will fill many new customers with enthusiasm for the Mercedes-Benz brand”, said ex-AMG boss Ola Källenius, now Member of the Divisional Board, Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales. “With the GLA we are expanding the comprehensive SUV range from Mercedes-Benz with further emotionally appealing variants and as such are exploiting the constantly growing compact SUV segment for the brand.”

The entry level version of the GLA model range consists for the moment of the GLA 200, which starts at EUR 29,303,75, VAT included. Powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, the model develops 156 hp and 250 Nm (184 lb ft) of torque and it seems to be available exclusively with front-wheel drive.

The GLA 250 and GLA 250 4Matic (from EUR 35,283.50 and EUR 37,496.90, respectively) models come with a two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers 211 hp and 350 Nm (258 lb ft) of torque.

On the diesel side, the GLA 200 CDI, available in both front-wheel drive and with 4Matic, starts at EUR 32,130 and EUR 36,509.20, respectively. It uses a 2.1-liter four-cylinder that develops 136 hp and 300 Nm (221 lb ft) of torque.

The GLA 220 CDI uses the same 2.1-liter four-cylinder but tuned to deliver 170 hp and 350 Nm (258 lb ft) of torque. It is also available with either front-wheel drive (from EUR 37,038.75) or 4Matic all-wheel drive (from EUR 39,252.15).
