Did you ever think that the worlds of off-roading and luxury have anything in common? Well, they do now, since Mercedes Benz has taken the wraps of its GL-Klasse Grand Edition - an exclusive, luxury specification for off-road terrain. The model has thus received special light-alloy wheels, two-tone leather seats in a new design, and wood trim in black ash.

Besides the set of special light alloy wheels in himalayas grey metallic finish (wrapped in 275/50 R 20 tires), the GL Grand Edition comes with dark-tinted headlamps, a radiator grille with black, high-gloss louvres, a newly designed front bumper with integrated LED lamps, a number of metallic paint finishes, heat-insulating and infrared-reflecting laminated glass and separated exhaust tailpipe trim.

Step inside the luxury off-roader, and you are greeted by a bespoke atmosphere, as the Mercedes GL Grand Edition sports two-tone leather seats (black/porcelain or black/maroon) featuring special piping and contrasting stitching, door panels, armrests and dashboard with double lapped felling, a wood and leather steering wheel, black designo fabric for the roof liner, velour floor mats and brushed stainless steel and stainless steel door sills.

All special edition models get PARKTRONIC, and on the GL 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC the automaker also adds the SCR exhaust gas technology which helps the car deliver 211 hp, while requiring an average of 9.0-liters of diesel per 100 Km. The full engine range includes the 265 hp V6 diesel unit in the GL 350 CDI 4MATIC, the 340 hp 4.6-liter V8 petrol in the GL 450 4MATIC and the 388 hp 5.5-liter V8 petrol on the range topping GL 500 4MATIC.

Mercedes GL Grand Edition prices start at €80,206 for the GL 350 CDI 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY, and reach €99,127 for the GL 500 4MATIC.
