Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG Crazy Wild Edition Shines at Auto Shanghai 2015

It's good to see Mercedes-Benz are getting back to using colours right, although we had to wait until Auto Shanghai 2015 kicked off to see some exciting colour choices at the carmakers' stand.

As much as we loved the Mercedes-Benz G500 4x4² showcased in Geneva, deciding to cover the beast in a dull layer of white paint is a rather poor choice, in our opinion.

However, Mercedes made us forget the past after they presented the G63 AMG Crazy Wild Limited Edition in Shanghai, photographed by MB Passion wearing a lovely Solarbeam costume. Most likely, the car is tailored to fit the needs of China's influent and filthy-rich buyers, so going for this exotic shade makes more sense here, than in Europe for example.

In addition, the mighty G-Wagen received fresh, appearance-enhancing parts on the outside. Windows are tinted in black; AMG installed a set of matte black wheels and side exhausts while the performance SUV went through a cosmetic process also involving gloss black fenders, bumpers, running boards and spoilers.

There's more piano black on the inside, but the Solarbeam stitching makes up for the rather simple-looking cabin. Piano Black trims are present on the dashboard, on the top and bottom areas of the steering wheel and the center console.

We don't know if this is a one-off model, or the cosmetic changes are part of a comprehensive pack offered to Chinese customers. In the second case, expect the package to wear a hefty sticker since the Solarbeam color option alone wears a price tag of €15,348 ($16,508).
