Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6x6 Gets First Drive by Truck Trend

A couple of months ago we were reporting that Mercedes-Benz will make at least 30 example of the gargantuan beast depicted above while flying through the air.

More recent reports are telling us that the initial figures were extremely pessimistic, since no less than 60 units of the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6x6 have already been manufactured up to this point, with plenty more than that to come in the following months.

“If you build it, they will come” would be what Axel Harries must have heard before giving the go-ahead for the monster G-Wagen to enter production.

For those not in the know, mr. Harries is the man in charge of anything Mercedes-Benz G-Class-related in Graz, where Magna Steyr manufactures every version of the legendary off-roader and will continue to do so until 2019, at the earliest.

Powered by the same 544 hp and 760 Nm (561 lb ft) of torque that are to be found under the “regular” G 63 AMG's hood, the six-wheeled behemoth is most likely the best car to own if you don't like parking or narrow city streets. We don't know if that is the same conclusion at which Motor and Truck Trend's Jonny Lieberman arrived after being the first journalist to drive a G 63 AMG 6x6, but his review is an interesting read nevertheless.
