You have already seen the E-Class Coupe and the Estate, and now it is time for a closer look at the Cabriolet version of the new E-Class. This is the fourth body style in the new range, but it will not remain the last derivative of Mercedes-Benz’s E-Class lineup.

Just like its predecessor, the E-Class Cabrio has a folding roof made of fabric. From a design point of view, the car should look a lot like the Coupe version of the E-Class, and both will share traits with the sedan.

Naturally, the fabric roof will be the primary difference when compared to the Coupe, but we expect it to resemble the one on the C-Class and S-Class.

Concerning platform and powertrains, Mercedes-Benz is not prepping any surprises here. The E-Class Cabriolet will borrow the platform, engines, and transmission from its Coupe sibling.

The powertrain range will be slightly restricted when compared to the sedan, as the entry-level engines might not be available for this car. Furthermore, Mercedes-AMG is expected to make a few versions of the E-Class, and the Cabriolet is a sure bet for one or two performance variants from this division of the German brand.

As far as technology is concerned, we expect the E-Class Cabriolet to feature all the gizmos we’ve seen on the sedan. This would bring a massive infusion of features when compared to the previous generation, just like it happened in the case of the sedan version.

Mercedes-Benz is expected to launch the E-Class Cabriolet as a 2018 car, and its release date is scheduled sometime next year. Other derivatives of the current E-Class will follow, as the company will make a long-wheelbase version, a coupe-profiled sedan, and a Shooting Brake model, according to reports.
