The world has pretty much gotten used to the usual bias found in comparison tests between a British and a German car when the test is done by a Brit – the only exception regularly found until now being Chris Harris – but the following head to head seem to want to change that perception.
The XFR-S is the most hardcore production version of the Jaguar XFR, which was a the halo model of the XF range in its own right.

With 550 hp and 680 Nm (502 lb ft) of torque from a five-liter supercharged V8, the special version of the already special XFR is a pretty tough contender when it comes to performance sedans head to heads.

Of course, it all comes down to what the other head is. In this case, it's represented by the Teutonic muscle sedan aka Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG.

With 557 HP and 720 Nm (531 lb ft) of torque, the twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter M157 V8 in the AMG is a class above the engine in the Jag and even Autocar's Steve Sutcliffe is forced to give the German saloon the upper hand in this battle.

The E 63 AMG has more power, more torque, crisper steering, a better sorted chassis and overall it offers better performance than the XFR-S.

The 0-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration alone is done in just 4.2 seconds, trumping the 4.4 seconds required by the Jag, not to mention the AMG is cheaper by about 6,000 British pounds. Enough specs on paper talking, though, and let's see the comparison video to have a better idea about what makes the E63 better.
